A slag is what survivors are calling the slug-like maggots raining from the sky, burrowing inside people, and hollowing out their flesh and their sanity. Slag Attack features four visceral, noir stories about the living, crawling apocalypse. The Devastated Insides of Hollow City - Hack detective Shell joins in the insane search for a girl named Pearl, who just might hold the key to restoring order. Vincent Severity - A woman is taken hostage by a very severe man in a sleazy El Camino. Corpse Mountain - Two guys named Cobra and Commando chug gasoline and help build grotesque robots to save the world. All Alone at the End of the World - Re-introduces Shell in a radically different light, building to a ferocious conclusion. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Andersen Prunty. In his alternate world, he can defeat anyone. Running, jumping, scoring touchdowns: Adam is always the hero. Then, an artificial intelligence program hacks into Adam´s game. Created by Adam´s computer-genius father, Sigma has gone rogue, threatening to kill Adam - and the entire human race. In a recent CNN/Suffolk University poll, more than half of the Democrats polled chose ´´Someone Completely Different” over all of the other democratic candidates for president. When you leave ´´Someone Completely Different” out of the polling, then of course, you get the majority of democrats choosing someone like Joe Biden, Beto O’Rourke, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, etc. Results will vary depending on the poll, the news, and the amount of money spent by any given candidate at any given time. But, when you include someone other than just the usual suspects, the democratic party favorites, people will choose ´´Someone Completely New´´ by a vast majority, strictly in order to demonstrate just how desperate we all our for something new, something revolutionary, to happen in American politics. They know that this lack of choice of people on their ballot every four years means that they really can’t make a difference, because there is no difference between the two parties that rule over this country. And the voters didn’t really make a difference until the elections in 2016, when the people who stayed away from our elections allowed Russian hackers to come in and win America’s elections for a foreign leader, Vladimir Putin. What’s next? I may be answering that question for you in my next audiobook - Das Va Danya, Donald. In this audiobook, however, the author outlines how his definition of ´´Someone Completely Different” is created by the technology of the day - robotics and how an artificially intelligent being could be our salvation because a robot in the White House will never be bribed, will never care about sex, money, or power. An artificial intelligence running our government could solve all of the world´s problems in a matter of seconds and then use the rest of the day to make sure we´re all happy and well-fed and prosperous besides. The author counters many of the arguments that people have put u 1. Language: English. Narrator: Michael Mathiesen. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/142223/bk_acx0_142223_sample.mp3. Bosch meets I, Robot: a police procedural thriller ripped from future headlines! After Jake shoots and kills a murder suspect who turns out to be the son of a powerful city councilman, he finds himself demoted to the Artificial Crimes Unit, tracking down androids hacked and programmed to be hit men. When his case of an ´´extra-judicial” divorce settlement takes a nasty turn with DNA from a 100-year-old murder in Boston and a signature that hearkens back to the very first serial killer ever in London, Jake finds himself tangled up in the brutal slayings of prostitutes being investigated by his former Robbery/Homicide partner, Maddie - who is now his lover. ´´It might not make sense, but the beloved Media tags it ´Murder by Munchausen.´ For a price, there are hackers out there who will reprogram a synthoid to do your dirty work. The bad news: no fingerprints or DNA left at the crime scene. The good news - at least for us - is that they’re like missiles: once they hit their target, they’re usually as harmless as empty brass. The trick is to get them before they melt down their core OS data, so you can get the unit into forensics for analysis and, hopefully, an arrest.´´ (Excerpt from Murder by Munchausen)Artificial Intelligence?
